Mark’s Gospel (6: 30-34, 53-56) for the Ninth Sunday after Pentecosttells of Jesus and his apostles traveling to a deserted place so they could rest from their recent travels, teaching and healing. Many saw them going and met them at their destination. Jesus had compassion for themany and began to teach. Later, Jesus and his apostles crossed to Gennesaret, where he was again recognized. The sick were brought where he was, and all who touched the fringe of his cloak were healed.
Fr. Tom Schneider advised we all need to practice the presence of God in our lives, to experience the peace of God in our lives. That peace gives us the renewal and refreshment we need. It is that peace of God, which passes all understanding, which will keep us, our hearts and minds and lives, in the knowledge and love of God. Thanks be to God.
